Jasmyn Mullins

My name is Jasmyn Mullins, and I am a 28-year-old comic artist. Ever since I was young, I have loved art, comics, manga, and all forms of storytelling. Growing up, I wrote numerous comics and manga in notebooks. My stories always centered around young black girls going on adventures, falling in love, and winning against their enemies. As the years progressed, I decided to tell stories focused on my challenges and triumphs as a young black female. The goal was to show that black girls are more than what society and the media expect. During my undergraduate studies, I, along with my peers, experienced much racism and microaggressions.  Currently, I am in the MFA comic program at California College of the Arts, where I plan to complete my program and earn my master's degree.
